He would have to be my favorite shoe designer right behind Alexander McQueen. You can automatically tell it's a shoe by him because of trademark skinny heel, beveled platform and crazy embellishments.
I love a trademark anything, no it doesn't make a product boring, but in returns give you a stamp that "he made it".
