Trend Alert: The Guayabera

Both Gabe Garcia and Travis Gumbs photo above are rocking a Guayabera which is a type of mens shirt originated from areas South of the Border. The Guayabera is distinguished from just basic Oxford button ups by the 2 or 4 front pockets and 2 front pleats + embroidery.

Original Purpose: It is said to be created because a Mexican farmer needed something to wear in the fields and with pockets to carry guava home.

You have probably seen many modern versions of this type of shirt but originals, 'vintage' finds are worn by most older Hispanic men. You will see any of the modern kind at a Express or Gap with the multi-pockets and strapped shoulders.
