News: Iris Apfel Launches Jewelry Line

New York native and fashion icon Iris Apfel was interviewed at W magazine this past month about her earlier days growing up and how the fascination with jewelry and how her "more-is-more" approach to getting dressed came about.
Apfel is now taking a new business venture with a jewelry design collaboration with yoox.com [$45-$3,500] The pieces from the line are described to be layered tea-stained bone necklaces, hefty amber bracelets and rhinestone cuffs the size of your car headlights." As well as the line, she'll be selling some of her own pieces to the general public as well.

Tip: What To With Old Gold Jewelry

No idea who the designer is, but wouldn't this be the coolest bracelet to wear? You can keep all your old broken gold pieces in there.

That was not meant to rhyme by the way.

Basically note to self, anything old in fashion can be made new again with a little imagination.

Inspiration: Ear Bling

These are not your moms earrings, these pieces are for attention grabbing that a normal diamond stud won't do for you.

Remember this 'ear bling' that I was obsessed over that Rihanna wore in the 'Live Your Life' video?

Jewelry Neckpiece By House of Baulch

Here is a one of a kind neckpiece from Australian based designer House of Baulch. This piece caught my eye because of how much it scream high-fashion and yet at the same time simple in design.

At first glance the neckpiece looks as if it's connected to the dresses, but as you can see it's featured on the model with different outfits.

I've contacted the designer to get more information on the Australian fashion house and this specific neck-piece.

Verna Fogg is the head designer and founder of Vina Amor jewelry. I found her work on Twitter and I'm so glad I get to share her work with you. I love finding jewelry that you can't find in stores; one-of-a-kind. Vintage jewelry is nice, but hand-made pieces are even better.

Verna has been designing jewelry and customizing her own clothes ever since high-school, but as of two years ago she decided to making creative designs for other.
All of her designs are made to order with a 7-day money back guarantee, so you know your getting a quality product.

DIY: Bowtie Necklace

I saw this feature in my recent copy of Teen Vogue magazine. I adore this idea. It's cute, simple and a great trendy way to turn an old boring pretied-bowtie into something functional.

I am going to go to my local Hobby Lobby store sometime soon and by a necklace to string it on.

Trend: Camail Jewelry

So I stumbled across the idea for this post from watching one of my favorite media personalities on YouTube; B. Scott. Pictured here is a camail head piece.

"Mail" or maile is literally an armour. It was used back in the 4th century BC in the Rome in battle. It was worn on different parts of the body to protect blows from sword fighting.
Here are different types of mail pieces:
Shirt - hauberk
Knee-length Garment- haubergeon
Waist-length Garment - byrnie
Leggings - chausses
Hoods - coif
Collar - pixane

This head piece is hot but it can only be worn at costume parties, themed night-clubs or sex shows. At the same time I can definitely see this worn at a couture fashion show. Here is a site that I found them on sale.

Trend: Lego Heart Brooches

You know you have seen Kanye West rocking these brooches before [Here is pictured above wit one]. I think they are cute and found a website where you can get your very own lego heart brooch too!

They make a bunch of other lego brooches. But the prices are rather steep. Use your credit card wisely.
