wegetDRESSED Daily: Dallas Mckinney | Charlotte, NC

Hello Everyone! This is my 500th post. I am so happy that you have kept up with this blog this long!

Featured above in the center of the photo we have [dressed] girl Dallas McKinney.  Check out how she is rocking a simple outfit but at the same time showing her style with the pearl accessories. Yes! If you want to just wear jeans and a shirt, accessories it with clashing, expensive-looking jewelry and look fabulous.

Also just in case you were wondering, she was wearing red flats with this outfit.

Outfit Id: La Roux

If you haven't checked out La Roux's video for her single Bulletproof, go ahead and do so before you finish reading this post [here].

Looking at both of the photos, have you noticed she likes to cross feet while posing? Love.
The hair cut is also a great twist on the faux-hawk; A new look if you have still been rocking it and you want to go more edgy.

The first photo is my favorite because she is pulling off a multi-colored cropped jacket like it's not ones business. I want more of this girl--she needs to get famous like Rihanna so we can follow her ;]

Tavi Gevinson | NY, New York

13-year-old Tavi Gevinson is now a famed fashion blogger in the industry at the site she created [thestylerookie.com]. She is also known for her quirky look and gray hair.

I first heard about this girl in the last issue of Teen Vogue and seen her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show and just thought that she was just a short, nerdy girl with gray hair. Now that I find out that she is only 13, I have truly seen it all. Anyone can get a break at fame with the internet. Just crank out a blog interesting enough to gain lots of readers.  It also shows that if you want to really do something, go ahead and do it.

[dressed] man_victor lohr

I was at work today and I fell in love with one of my customers' outfit online at Starbucks. Unfortunately I was in a hurry to get his information such as his name and what he was wearing. I do know he works at J. Crew, Northlake Mall. Hopefully he is reading and will chime in.

His outfit is modern and preppy and appropriate for everyday.
The cuffed skinny jeans are my favorite part. It is a trademark of mine. They are not cuffed too much, but just enough to see the flesh of the foot.

*update: I ended up finding out his name through another friend.

my take on the trends

An outsider looking in on the fashion industry would say that its frivolous to follow fashion as rarer because of how frequent trends change. I had the same thought too when I was an outsider looking in.

I completely understand why and how trends change from season to season now. It is important to always bring fresh content to buyers.

From a frugal and fashionista stand point its okay to be accepting and understand the industry but at the same time its okay to take what you know and do your own thing.

No one says that in order for you to be fashionable you have to buy everything new when it comes off the runway at NY Fashion week. There is a difference between being fashionable and stylish. One is more important than the other.

Personally I believe in staple items and staple looks. Being stylish versus fashionable is all about learning how to dress your body type but still look good by adding your personality to it. Fashionable is buying all the latest designer items off the rack or runway.

what i wear_day forty

Thanks Angel for getting the smoke in the background. It added the extra [dressed] that I needed. This picture was taken yesterday afternoon and the temperature outside was in the 30's. I froze my little booty off for this shot.
If you can tell I have NO accessories on. That is a big don't.
Vest - YSL
Jeans - UO
Shoes - Chuck Taylors
Shirt - ON

112. what you could wear_spring 2010

What caught my attention was the circle scarf. It's made out light cotton material which can be worn a little bit into the spring. She said it was a DIY project that she won. This just gave me some inspiration.

what i wear_now on chictopia

So I had an old Chictopia account before, but deleted that one and wanted to start over with a new account name. The new account is now at [www.chictopia.com/dressedmagazine]. Chictopia is a basically a great site to easily, showcase your personal style to the world. If you are a fashionable male or female check them out. It's fast and fun to use, you get to meet new people who dress like you and get feedback from them. A family is created on this site and I love it. If you have a Chictopia account go ahead and add me :]

There is another site similar to Chictopia that I like. [www.LookBook.nu] has a different spin compared to Chictopia. Everyone's picture that is uploaded is displayed in a feed format like on Facebook or Twitter. It's a great way to see a great variety of different styles all at once. LookBook revolves around the feature of photos being "Hyped". Hyped basically means everyone your outfit is plucking the right strings. At the moment, this is the most hyped look with 1175 points.

interview_andrew cash

I caught up with my RA of my building, [Andrew Cash] and we chatted a bit about his ventures in the fashion industry. Read along with us.

[dressed] So I see your new to the blogging game. What made you want to jump in and join the craze?
Well "Charlottedaydream" was actually started on a whim. I was in the Library between classes and I decided to start a blog. That is why you can never anticipate what I am going to post about. Usually I don't plan it out, it just happens when I get the urge. Consider it as a small window into my mind.

Your in school for both Sociology and Religion, what do you want to do with those majors?
Sociology is my main focus. Religion is just a credit filler that I think is interesting. In some way or another Religion affects us. Whether we actively participate in, or actively avoid Religion. As for Sociology, I plan on going to Grad school for it, and see what come about afterwards.

For fall/winter 2009 if you were only given $100 what is one thing that you would get if you had the money?
I would spend it on a pair of Chukkas. They are a great example of how an item can be dressed up or down based on the context of how you wear it. Plus, Who doesn't like a new pair of shoes.

I don't believe in labeling styles, but if you had to name your look, how would you do so? I also know that some people styles are limited based on their income. If you had to ability, what style would you like to incorporate as your own? I have a tendency to gravitate towards the more preppy side of fashion. Most of my favorite stores can get pricey (J. Crew, Banana Rep.), But if money was not an issue I could completely dress out of these stores.

I always break this one fashion rule: Some consider it outdated but, You will see me and my all white Converses all year round.

[dressed] is all about the fashion and style, but what is one song that you have on your iPod that you are rocking out to? John Mayer is my favorite artist and his new album just dropped, so that will most likely dominate my iPod time for at least the next week.

what i wear_day thirty-four

I am so dang tired of carrying around my little pink umbrella that I found a long time ago. Today in Charlotte we experienced a monsoon and was flooded with rain. My little pink umbrella messes up all my outfits because it doesn't coordinate well. By the way, I put a black umbrella on my shopping list.

This coat was dug out of Vintage pile. It's corduroy and very warm. I personally think this outfit would have been ten times better if I had some dark brown boots to break up the black I have going on. It's too much at the bottom. Other than that, that's the only critique that I have about me today!
