tip_smelly shoes?

Do you have smelly shoes like me? Is it because you don't wear socks? Well I love the "no sock" look when wearing slip-on shoes. I don't think I have ever wore a pair of socks with my Vans. I try not to as much as possible. So the major downfall of not wearing socks is that your shoes will stink, regardless of how well you wash your feet. It's just a natural consequence because the whole purpose of socks are to absorb the sweat from your feet. The sweat in the shoe than sits and smells.

I have spent too much time trying to figure out ways to cure this problem. It's embarrassing having friends come over when I know the smell from my shoes are unbearable! [Febreeze doesn't help by the way LOL!] Here are some easy steps I found to do:

1. If your shoes are damp at all from the sweat, remove them and replace them with insoles that are meant to kill bacteria. [This is the best solution, but if you don't want to pay the extra money, follow the other steps below].

2. Put the shoes in a zip-loc bag and put them in the freezer.

3. After wearing, pour a little baking soda in the shoes.

4. If all else fails, go to a pet store and purchase an odor remover such as Nature's Miracle that contains enzymes or bacteria.

Photo: No H8 Campaign

Adam Bouska is a fashion and beauty photographer based out of West Hollywood California. If you have seen Americas Next Top Model than you have probably seem some of his work. He is also the official photographer for the No H8 campaign. I came across his work for the first time seeing B. Scott's default picture on facebook. It was the ever so lovely B. Scott in all white white electrical tape over his mouth. At first I didn't know what this was all about. But I started seeing celebrities photos all taken in the same fashion.

Coming across in my research I found out more of what this campaign was. The whole campaign is fighting for equal rights. It was started after Prop 8 was initiated in California. The uproar was tremendous. I'm glad the silent protest is becoming so well known. There are numerous amounts of celebrities and just regular people like you and me who have taken apart of this movement and to show their support. Anyone can support the cause. You can visit their site for more information to figure out exactly what you can do.

Here is a the official PSA from the people behind the campaign.

Ask DRESSED: Do Shoes + Belts Have to Match?

Question: I know the saying about matching the shoes with the belt. If you are wearing a pair of black shoes with a black belt, can you wear a coat of a different color? For example a brown one?

Absolutely! And to go along with the matching shoes and belt stereotype. I don't think that you have to follow that to a tee. If you going to a formal event, say a black tie gathering, than thats probably appropriate. If you are just going to class than no. As long as your overall outfit works together you should be fine. That's what matter most.

Hot: drake

Back in the day on the Canadian TV show "Degrassi" I did not find this dude attractive at all. He was so awkward looking. This is what he looked like when he was younger. Even now that he is all well known and popular now with his music, I still didn't think he was cute.

But this picture of him from his Twitter changed my mind! The facial hair on him suites him well!! Well done. On another note, here is a new song from both Timbaland and Drake. The song is called "Say Something". I have been listening to it all day. Click here to check it out.

H&M Comes To NC

I am so excited that this store is coming to North Carolina, it's a little step forward in the right direction. No the destination is not Charlotte, but that just means that it will soon be in the future.

They are inching closer; four in Georgia and two in D.C. The Swedish based designers location of the H&M is set to be in Raleigh at Crabtree Valley Mall. The plan is for the store to be open next spring. When they do open, I will be sure enough making my trip up to the states capital :D

Clothing Line: Siriano for Payless

Earlier this month Project Runway Season 4 winner, Christian Siriano, released his premiere book Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self. The book is receiving mixed reviews; on one hand it is criticized for the lax writing style which is more conversational than analytical. On the other hand the book is praised for being informative and not overly self indulgent as other celebrity written style guides have been in the past. The book is divided into 4 sections;
  • “Lady, You Look Fabulous!!!!” – A section personal style
  • “Finding Your Inner Ferocia” – Tips on feeling confidence
  • “Every Day Is a Runway… Work It” – A section on acting fierce, being social and managing your life.
  • “Inspire Me!!!!” – Material to celebrity fashion icons, trendsetters and other matters of pop culture
The book also features fashion tips from Victoria Beckham and Heidi Klum. So the main down point to the book is that if you are not a Christian fan that you will not be fan of the book. Parts of the book are very much a memoir of his life and struggle to the fashion spotlight. The book is also full of Siriano’s “unique” homemade language such as trannylicious and ferocia. The language can be very annoying, but other than that it is a fairly entertaining read.
He also has a line of shoes out for Payless! You would think he would design for a higher end chain, but fortunately the shoes are all under $100. Payless is known for having there customers “Pay Less” LOL. On another note, I don’t think the shoes are that cute. This is the cutest pair I seen:
You can check out the rest of the selection online at their homepage. This particular pair is called the Slither Boot and runs at $49.99.

Movie: September Issue

So I watched the movie The September Issue tonight and I’m sad to say I was not that impressed. For some reason I loved The Devil Wears Prada and was hoping it was going to be like this. I should have known since the movie was a documentary.
One thing that I noticed before that I noticed again was that the majority of the older people in the fashion industry are not good looking at all. Images: Top to bottom [Andre Leon Talley, Grace Coddington, Anna Wintour]. They look like death in the eyes. Not attractive at all. I hope this will not happen to me. I’m not saying that old people should not be in the industry, because they need to, they have great wisdom and knowledge that they can teach the newbies. Lets call the plastic surgeon UGLY PEOPLE.

Shoes: John Galliano 2009

“I die”, Everyone is taking her [Rachel's] word now! Not me! But I had to show you these heels on The Rachel Zoe Project.
These are the John Galliano heels from the runway show at Paris Fashion Week. I’m not sure the height, but they are so gorgeous. Rachel is lucky for being able to just go back stage and put them on! I am also sooo sad that today is the final of the RZ Show. I will be following her blog on her site to keep up with her in the mean time.

Music: Kandi - I Fly Above

Music that has a message or gets me pumped always has space on my iPod; this has both. This new song by the best [dressed] Housewife of Atlanta Kandi Burruss is her first single from her upcoming sophomore album called B.L.O.G.S. I have been quoting this song all week. When someone gives me fever, I say “I Fly Above”. They look at me like I’m crazy, but that’s me just singing my little song to myself LOL.

Shoe Alert: Alexander McQueen S/S 2010

I feel sorry for these poor models walking down the runway at Paris Fashion Week. Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 show debuted in Paris yesterday. These heels are a staggering 12 inches!

Want to see the whole show? Trust me none of the models fell so if that’s what you want to see it for than save your time. Those girls are professionals! Strip clubs may want to hire a few of them. Fortunately I don’t think these prototyped heels will be leaving that runway. These are not safe for the common woman to wear.

I love watching fashion shows for the concepts and themes that the designers come up with to have on the runway. The cameras on tracks follow the models as they walk, recording there every move. The themes make me as excited as the clothes!

I hope this guy is just not walking around with a Louis shopping bag and using it to tote stuff around and an actual duffel bag. Is this gaudy?? There is no need to be a show off.

Hair: Give Me This Hairstyle

I think this look is so cute and would think it would be interesting to get once my hair grows longer. No one so far is feeling this. This is a picture of Hokuto Konishi from the show “So You Think You Can Dance”.

In the second picture, I don’t want the feathers and what not, I just essentially want the braids on the side. Yes, I know it’s weird, but I think it’s a good excuse to allow me to have some weave in my hair :]]

On The Street: Rob Mitchell

Hello, Introduce yourself to the [dressed] magazine community! Tell us who you are. My name is Robbie Mitchell. I am 28 years old, style artisan in its purest form. I hate titles but a couple have attached themselves to my persona in some form or another; Visual merchandiser, lifestyle stylist, personal shopper, and self proclaimed purveyor of all things beautiful and well crafted.

What are some style tips your can give us? Less is more at times, just as over the top elegance can be done in good taste. Balance is key in whatever look you are trying to achieve. Proportions, body style, fit, color, fabric choice should come into consideration first before simply trying to find accessories to match a top/shoes. Make it your own, I hate seeing uniformity and a overall lack of individuality.. Finding your personal flair will do more to enhance an outfit than anything you could ever buy. Style is something you are born with, but is also something under the right tutelage that can be taught, or at least mimicked.

[Image: Militant Mannequin: Army Surplus Jumper-Vintage, Occhiali- Polarized Ray-ban Wayfarers, Tee- Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, "Rude Remarks" pins- Revolution, Bracelet- D&G, Timepiece-D&G, Shoes- Fendi]

How would you describe your personal style? My personal fickleness will not allow me to stick to one particular style of dress. I’m a seeker and always try to capitalize on new trends, and find beauty in most things the average person does not. I admire great tailoring, fit is and always be the ultimate deal breaker in whether a ensemble is a go or a no. I like the perfect or imperfect mix of high and low. Helmut Lang denim and a American Apparel t-shirt is comparable. Invest in a beautiful timepiece or quality jewelry. Sidebar: Helmut is the best pair of jeans you will ever own.

Who is your favorite designer? I really admire what Hedi Slimane did for Dior Homme. He really brought a certain aesthetic back to the house that was missing before. It’s hard finding clothes at times for my body frame without getting them tailored. I have long arms, long legs, and a long torso which can sometimes be difficult to shop for and other times a breeze depending on the source. I also admire Martin Margiela, Comme des Garcons, YSL and Lanvin, and those are just some of the high end design house, far too many too list so I wont even try. Don’t become a label whore, but however focus on fit, material, and craftsmanship not a name stitched inside the garment.

How do you dress someone you don't know but also keep their personality? I Listen, watch, and pay attention to them and their vision. Don’t overstep your boundaries, but at the same time broaden their range and discuss possibilities. What might seem unorthodox and contrary might bring about a new attitude, new look, and new way of thinking. Clothing transcends protection from the elements, surpasses the physical, and has truly evolved into a true art form. I appreciate clothing on that level, everyone should.

What are your last thoughts? There is a difference between liking, loving, and being passionate about something. I’m passionate about my craft. Be passionate about your gifts, and capitalize on them as often as you can as much you can, and let the cards fall where they may.
