sneaker alert_air yeezy

I posted a "heel alert" the other day on Keri Hilson's heels. In the same picture the shoes that Kanye was wearing are called Air Yeezy's, so I felt that I had to do the men justice. When I first saw them I didn't know that he had designed them himself. This will be his second pair of shoes he has designed. 

But the shoe reminds me of a pair of Spike Lee Jordans. And actually in the photo above, it shows the "inspiration" of how Kanye's shoes came to be.  It has also been stated that the Air Yeezy’s will be extremely limited and hard to find. Kayne stated on his blog that the first Nike Air Yeezy's became available in-stores April 4th 2009 along with other products he has been working on.

Trend: New 'It' Bag?--Longchamps

I have seen too many girls carrying this bag for my liking.

The bag looks cheap and and flimsy. Why would you want to carry this??

I did my research and found out that Longchamp is a famous brand in a Paris...Oops.

By 1955 they expanded to include small leather goods, opening its first factory in Segré. By the 1970s, Longchamp opened its first boutiques in Hong Kong and Japan, and became known for its lightweight travel goods. The "Le Pliage" line is a collection of foldable travel bags made of vinyl and leather trim.

I just don't understand how the bags became popular in the first place. I would not pay $100 for a bag I can get from Wal-Mart, let alone it being used to carry luggage.

Music videos are like mini fashion shows today.

This screenshot was from the song by Keri Hilson's called "Knock You Down". I am not able to identify the designer of Keri Hilson's heels in particular though. Thats one bad thing about celebrities... There needs to be a site where celebrities identify what they are wearing on all occasions that they are out in public/TV. What's the use of wearing something hot and gorgeous, when the fans/public can't find out where to get/buy it??

Rihanna Wing Earring

I first saw her rocking this earring in the "Live Your Life" music video with TI and just happened to come across it again online. I have a fetish with funky earrings [ie. my fake gauges LOl], so these just really turned me on! I would love to rock one of these. These are a hot pair of girls skinny jeans that I found on TopShop! Yes, I know that one can make these, but I would be scared of the shredding that may occur in the wash. These jeans can be best paired with colored or black stockings and a pair of high heels.

Tip: Keep Colors Vibrant

Another one of my co-workers from another store [Starbucks] was telling me about how her manager requires her to dye her uniform if it gets faded. I found this outrageous! I have never heard of a manager requiring that!! We at Starbucks mostly wear black to work, [I personally feel it's the most flattering on us] so that affects most of us. But her manager recommended RIT Dye. I had no idea what she was talking about nor the effectiveness of it. So I am still not sure about it. Is the dye gonna mess up my other clothes? Will the dye leak off during the day? How long does it last? Scared and confused LOl.

Black clothes in the wash fade the fastest. I hate this so much because if you are wearing a cute outfit and your colors are not crisp, you look cheap. Not a good look. But hopefully this can be solved with the dyeing technique! They have different possible methods of dyeing your clothes. One is by adding drops of dye to your wash load, or soaking your clothes in a bucket with the dye and boiling water.

Other techniques to keep your darks dark that I know of:

-Always wash dark colors in cold water.
-Use detergent specifically made for darks [i.e., Woolite Dark]

-If the fabric is particularly delicate, wash it by hand with cold water and Borax.
-Never put black clothing in the dryer. Instead, hang them to dry.
-Only wash when necessary, excessive washing causes fading.
-Also washing your dark clothing inside out will help avoid fading.

Please let me know what techniques you use, or if you have used RIT Dye before. I'm really interested in saving money and not having to buy new clothes for work every month LOl.

Oversized is in for the spring. Is your closet ready?!

Tip. If your gonna do the oversized/baggy look, make sure your outfit is proportioned correctly. For example, if your sweater or top is oversized, make sure your bottom half is not oversized. If you do this, you will end up looking bloated. What you should do in this situation is to wear slim fitting/skinny pants, jeans or skirt.

Article: Are Fakes Ever Really En Vogue?

 The current rule among designers is that “Fakes are Never in Fashion.” I’ll be honest, I support the fake industry! There is no way to escape it. Every store has items that are “inspired” by high end designer pieces. In Forever 21 there are YSL “inspired” heels, Chloe “inspired” jewelry, and scarves “inspired” by Alexander McQueen. The same is true in so-called quality stores like J.Crew and Anthropologie, which sell bags that look identical to those sold by Marni, and shoes that are suspiciously similar to the Dolce & Gabbana oxford heels. And there is absolutely no way to tell what pieces are knock-offs… unless you obsessively read magazines (like I do)!

The designers often get mad saying that they are losing profit. But honestly, if someone could afford to buy their dream $18,000 dollar Hermes bag they totally would! Those who can’t afford it may find satisfaction in their knock-off version. Some may try to argue that fakes are made is sweat shops with poor working conditions. 

News flash: ALL your clothing (unfortunately) are made in sweat shops. The fakes sold in Chinatown actually have better working conditions because they are run by independent families. Basically, buying fakes is inevitable, embrace it! If you see a piece in a magazine that you like, don’t just add it to your wish list, go to a store and find it. There is bound to be something in there that was “inspired” by your favorite designer.

tip_self confidence

Having good self-confidence is a big deal for me.

When I was growing up, I would not feel that I was cool or popular in school. Actually, 'til this day, I don't feel I am still not "cool" or "popular'. I am just a quirky kid who just does his own thing.

At the same time now as I have gotten older, I feel that I do not need to be "cool" or "popular" in order to be happy.I have now learned that it is not necessary for me to fit-in.I am happy with who I am and I don't feel I need to impress anyone. I have learned that I can wear what I want and not worry about someone judging.

If someone does feel that they must make a judgment about me, I am strong enough now to not let that bother me. Other people opinions do not make me. 

No one else can give you what you need in order to feel good about yourself.

That comes from within. 

**NOTE: It's not what people call you that matters, but what you answer to does.

Before + After: Lady Sovereigng

The lady is back! I knew I haven't heard from this chick in a minute, but I was just browsing YouTube today and came across her new video. The song is very dance-worthy. I love it so. What I'm most psyched about though is her new look!! This is the lady before and after...Now she actually looks more like a "lady" hahaha. I'm glad someone at her record company took over...

Tip: Long-sleeves + Shorts

I hear people talking about how it is faux pas to wear shorts with long-sleeve tops. This is not true. Almost as true as the rule being not be able to wear white after Labor day. Who ever made that rule is sick; if you can't wear white after Labor day, than when are you going to be able to wear it? 

Just know guys that "fashion rules" are most of the time just other peoples opinion. There is no right or wrong way to express your individuality through fashion. So yes, now that it is getting warm outside, if you feel you would like to rock a sweater with some cargos - go right ahead. Tell the haters to back down.

These shoes are being made popular by Kanye West last year. No, they are not Nike's Lol, they are made by Ato Matsumoto - a japanese designer known for his "layers and useful aesthetics".
